Mission and Priorities

Our Unique Focus and Mission

Utah Wildlife in Need is a nonprofit foundation working to help Utah's native wildlife. We focus on the at-risk species — those you'd be thrilled to see or hear in the wild — including river otters, black-footed ferrets, rare songbirds and many more. We want these creatures to thrive in Utah and still be here for future generations to enjoy.

Our Mission is Twofold:

  • To ensure the future of native Utah wildlife by supporting essential research, conservation and education projects
  • To promote appreciation for, and conservation of, the Great Salt Lake ecosystem
Utah Wildlife in Need is the only nonprofit wildlife foundation that focuses primarily on Utah’s at-risk, native species. One hundred percent of donor support stays in Utah and goes toward projects that benefit our native wildlife and its habitat.

Our Highest Priority

At Utah Wildlife in Need, our top priority is helping 105 native species that are at risk. These animals are in jeopardy because their habitat has been destroyed, developed or overrun by other nonnative animals. With sufficient attention and funding, they can recover and thrive in Utah for generations to come.
